Digitalization, global crises and demographic change require companies in all sectors to be prepared for change. The transformation in the economy is being driven by global issues and challenges, but the concrete confrontation with them is taking place regionally. Over 200 participants at the Regensburg Innovation Congress on July 10 in the TechBase therefore focused specifically on the challenges facing the local economy.
In the past, both the IHK and TechBase have organized an annual innovation congress with different focal points. When it came to transformation, it made sense to organize a joint congress, says Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of TechBase: "Of course, the automotive sector is not the only industry feeling the pressure to change. But it is a key industry in Regensburg as a business location. That's why our transform.r network is one of the main organizers of this congress. Together with the IHK, we were able to shed light on the focus topic of 'transformation' from various perspectives."
The joint congress of the transform.r network under the leadership of the Cluster Mobility & Logistics and the Regensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Upper Palatinate / Kelheim not only emphasized the importance of transformation for local companies. Above all, he showed ways in which the process can be implemented in the individual areas. According to Dr. Jürgen Helmes, Managing Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, a key success factor is the training and continuous development of skilled workers: "Skilled workers with their technical expertise and commitment are the foundation of a successful transformation in every company. Continuous further training is therefore an important building block for success."
As part of the congress, three specialized forums were organized on sustainable and digital transformation as well as the necessary framework conditions and strategies for companies. These forums offered participants the opportunity to engage more intensively with the key topics. They also served as a platform for cross-industry networking between all stakeholders.
Forum 1: "Shaping transformation sustainably":
Jörg Recklies, Infineon Technologies AG, Plant Manager Regensburg, highlighted in his presentation the focus on sustainable products and digitalization in production. He made it clear that digitalization requires new skills from employees, but also new leadership skills. Continuous involvement of all employees can be crucial for the success of the transformationn.
Klaus Nagl, Managing Director of Consolinno Energy GmbH, based at TechBase Regensburg, focused on the importance of renewable energies and energy-efficient solutions and illustrated the cost efficiency of solar energy compared to nuclear energy. In his opinion, an important point towards sustainability in companies is also the promotion of an innovation mindset, for example through flat hierarchies.
Forum 2: "Framework conditions and strategies for companies":
For Marco Friedrich, Managing Director of LI-EX GmbH from Pentling, innovation is crucial for getting out of the crisis. During the pandemic, he was able to stabilize his company's core business, which was in danger of collapsing, by developing a new room air purifier at short notice.
Benno Löffler, Managing Director of Vollmer und Scheffczyk GmbH, pointed out the biggest illusions that companies often succumb to. The key message: the problem for a lack of innovative spirit is often sought in people themselves, but not in their (working) environment.
Forum 3: "Paths to digital transformation":
Achim Przymusinksi from AVL-Software and Functions GmbH demonstrated creative approaches that companies can use to open up new markets and presented pioneering projects. Among other things, he explained how innovative approaches can fundamentally change the way ideas are generated.
Dr. Tjorben Bogon, founder and CEO of risecon GmbH, presented practical solutions to help companies master the challenges of transformation. In addition to the implementation of technological methods and processes in companies, digital transformation also requires a fundamental change in corporate culture.
The first Regensburg Innovation Congress was organized by the IHK Regensburg for Upper Palatinate / Kelheim and the transform.r network, supported by the Cluster Mobility & Logistics and TechBase. The event was thus also part of the German government's transformation networks.
