The first application-oriented AI conference in Regensburg celebrated its premiere today with around 250 participants. At AIR.CON, everything revolved around the developments of artificial intelligence (AI) in various fields of application and offered concrete insights into where AI concepts are already being used in regional industry and research. The organiser of AIR.CON, Cluster AIR Artificial Intelligence Regensburg, brought renowned experts to TechBase Regensburg.
The Regensburg AI conference AIR.CON was primarily aimed at companies, research institutions and students from the fields of transformation and innovation management as well as anyone interested in AI who wanted to find out more about the potential and challenges of this technology. The event offered participants the opportunity to discuss the use of AI with researchers and practitioners from industry, associations and networks and to benefit from their experiences. ‘This conference is a very strong signal for Regensburg as an AI location. It's great to see the amount of expertise and knowledge in the region,' said a pleased Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of TechBase Regensburg.
The participants were delighted with the high level of interest in AIR.CON and the quality of the presentations. The panel of recognised AI experts enabled a differentiated discussion on the introduction of AI in companies from various perspectives. There was also a well-founded exchange between science and business in the individual specialist forums. The panellists were Dr Elisabeth Moser from Krones AG, Rosmarie Steininger, founder of Chemistree GmbH, Prof. Dr Karsten Weber from OTH Regensburg and Prof. Dr Christian Wolff from the University of Regensburg. According to Dr Elisabeth Moser from Krones AG, it is important to ‘learn how to use AI responsibly, to develop a basic understanding of it and not to trust AI blindly. At Krones, among other things, employees are specially trained in the acceptance and safety of dealing with artificial intelligence and can obtain an AI licence.’
In the four specialist forums, the participants focussed on the use of AI projects in the respective areas of automotive & industry, construction, start-ups and art & culture.
The Regensburg AI conference AIR.CON is to take place every two years in future.
The event is part of the German government's transformation networks. The Regensburg-based project transform.r supports companies in coping with structural change in the automotive industry.
